Thanks! Never painting anything myself again! Took me hours to get that finish, plus by the time I purchased the various sandpaper grades, polishes, paints etc, wouldn’t have worked out much cheaper than getting it done properly – plus many man hours saved haha
Cheers guys! I've just had a standard airbox and piping turn up so I'll be fitting that and getting rid o the BMC.
I'll probably replace the standard panel filter at some point, but the one that came with the airbox looks in good condition for the time being.
It's now insured and 6 months...
Check the rear passenger window seals. Mine went all brittle and let water in and it collected in one place, then when I was driving the car, when I would brake, water would come rushing into the pax foot well.
Easier to spot in mine as its stripped out - worth a shot tho
What's left to do....bleed brakes and get the rear shock changed, need an air gun as my guns aren't big enough to undo it! Tax then drive!!
Here's a quick debrief of new bits on the car...
Bonnet
Rear Shock
Full service inc aux belt
Front pads
Battery
Alternator
Probably more but can't...
The red car lives!!!
i cracked on early yesterday morning, finished tightening the exhaust up, has new gaskets/bolts/clamps all the way through. It was then time to stick some fluids in and see if she started.
Stuck 2.5 litres of water in, and waiting 30 secs to see if any came out...it...
Cheers for that, I was hoping that was the case!
Got the spray from eBay, cost £17 for spray 400ml and 500ml lacquer, worth pointing out I needed two lots to do this job. If you want the link I'll post it up.
Plus distance is an inconvenience! Being in Essex – not like he can just pop down and have a word. Exactly my problem at the minute, trying to find local GOOD people!
Have you got the original graph that K-tec gave you after they did the work? What AFR's were logged on that? If different to what you've said, they must have known they were shizen and changed the graph no? Terrible!
Plan is for this weekend to finish it off and see if she starts.
Still to fit:
New Battery
New Rear Shock
New Cat to Manifold fitting kit
Fluids
Turn key....see what happens
Some more boxes ticked.
Sort the nearside brake line – goes the wrong way round the suspension strut
Bleed brakes
Fill gearbox oil
Fill Power steering fluid
Coolant
Swap decoder ring (might not need to do this?!)
Fit new Rear shock (other one spilled its guts on my drive - see previous...
To do list is getting shorter for the red car....
Sort the nearside brake line – goes the wrong way round the suspension strut
Bleed brakes
Bolt Aircon pump back in
Fill gearbox oil
Fit new radiator as the old one has been subject to radweld or similar at some point
Fit Exhaust
Fill Power...
I bought a silly cheap bonnet on eBay and it arrived this week, the guy said it needed a re spray as it had some extreme bird droppings on it, I hoped that it would polish out but it was past saving and does need a re spray. So I started the prep work today, sanded down all the problem areas...
It's not really been a money pit! I've used the money received from selling the carbon bonnet, wheels, suspension, carbon engine cover, my old exhaust etc to pay for the parts for both cars, managed to get a stack boost gauge with the remainder too!
So with all that used up I'm back to just...
No real updates unfortunately, time really has got away from me. But here is a summary of where I'm at with both cars.
Cup Turbo
Exhaust is blowing at manifold join needs looking at
Mapping
Red Clio
Fit brand new circlip and spacer to gearbox
Bolt Driveshaft back in (new driveshaft...
Very true! I'm trying to find a compromise at the moment, but if need be it'll be stuck on a trailor and taken where it needs to go!
Only other thing I could think off is that th dephaser solenoid wasn't bolted in, now it is....
Other than that everything is the same
I'm finding everywhere too far away! Closest I can find at the minute in Dan @ 519, I need to give him a call and have a chat.
I'd rather give K-tec a swerve based on current reviews, but saying that, it was originally mapped by them and when the engine was in the other car it was seemed to...
I’ve got the exhaust on, runs much smoother than before, now not so much of a chore to drive and runs fine! Just need to get it in for a remap!
The before shot after I got it back from the body shop, still with that mega shizen exhaust
To what is it now…1010% better, still needs a bit of a...
I'm having issues finding companies that can help me out with mapping my gen90.
I've spoken to James @ S&MWM who have been very helpful so far, but just wondering if there are any others around the southeast?
It's def leaking, it's only clean as I've only driven about 10 miles since the swap lol
Really? Dammit!! I'll get the exhaust on and go from there then!
Found a potential culprit for the problems I've been having....
That's the turbo downpipe connecting to the exhaust - about a 1cm gap. The exhaust is so noisy anyway that I couldn't hear it blowing. I think this maybe the cause of my boost spike issues.....maybe....who knows!
Just need to...
I've been having issues with my turbo build, boost spikes and its shuts off like over boost.
I've just noticed there's a 1cm or so gap where my exhaust bolts onto the turbo down pipe. Would this affect boost?
After a quick google it seems it can affect back pressure and therefore cause boost...
