Dad's always having problems but that doesn't seem to put him off! Only recently managed to get him to dump Norton in favour of Avast when he got a virus that Norton couldn't get rid of.

Do you have a CD for the motherboard with USB drivers on? and if so, have you installed them? Also, try a different USB port in case the one you are using is having problems.

What I did was install Ubuntu and start using it. If I had a problem or wanted to know how to do something then I used the ubuntu forum. http://ubuntuforums.org/ As long as you have a bit of common sense then it's not a hard OS to learn.

Setting it up is easy, all you do is stick the CD in and use the wizard...? Building your own is still worth it, only real way to get the exact spec you want using the brands you want. Worth it even more so if you're upgrading, instead of buying everything new you can reuse bits like the PSU...
