Replace the pulley im afraid - cambelt off job.
If the dephaser pulley is knackered you will notice a drop in performance ( no pull after 5000 rpm ) If the power is still there i would check the pulley and then look at something else like the hydraulic lifters in the head
A potentiometer is a variable tapped resistor that can be used as a voltage divider - it is situated on the side of the throttle body. Its basically Renaults term for a throttle position sensor. Its held on with one single screw and has a plug connector running from it to the loom.

Check the breather hose on the top of the inlet manifold isnt blocked with gunge. This pipe comes down from the inlet and enters the Carbon canister. Another thing to check is the air return valve which comes of the bottom pipe on the throttle body - this is usually situated on the N/S inner wing

Press the central locking button ( centre console ) for 5 seconds until the engine immobiliser light illuminates and the central locking motors operate on the doors.
Then press the key twice - the doors will lock and then unlock. This will re-synch your plip...

There are 2 types of coil pack. The original SAGEM units that were fitted to all Renault 2001 > 16v K4M, K4J, F4P & F4R engines. These were renowned for failing causing the engine to misfire. Renault actually replaced these under warranty using DENSO units as they were more reliable.
