    Yep go fully synthetic, it's not a bad job, sump plug is an 8MM square. Remove the fuel rail guard to make getting to the oil filter easier!

    NGK - PFR6E-10, plugs to use, don't touch anything else imo! oil any good 5-40 will be fine! :) Can't really beat genuine filter's! :)

    Definately fit a new belt, for the cost of it, the tensioners will be fine after 20K imo! So cambelt, dephaser pulley and aux belt. Around £300 ish fred top of my head? maybe a tad over!

    They have been reduced, £22 from memory, or they were last week when i ordered one! No offense like, but the non genuine ones are s**t, may aswell use cable ties, i don't care how oe there meant to f**king be. Rant over :)

    Bad luck on your part! But i honestly struggle to get my head around why you would buy a secondhand alternator for a trophy?!?! I would buy a secondhand alt for my scabby pug, but it's only worth 50p!! Trying to save a few quid could of ended up with losing the car all together!

    ^ I thought you would be pretty handy being a builder mon, but then, my dad's a joiner and i can't hit a nail or cut a straight line to save my life!! Let us know, Mike and the boys will sort it i have no doubt! :)

    How handy are you on the spanners?!?! Get the aux belt off! I reckon you will find the problem yourself pretty easy!

    erm, well, sounds like the alternator is f**ked! But the coolant is worrying? the aux belt is definately on??? as it drives the water pump aswell! So it could be rubber burning? alt and water pump not working?! Give you a grand for it?!:o
