The ecu uses the knock sensor to r****d ign. It will liekly detect det on lower octane fuel sooner, and so lower advance. On higher it will not det so soon, so will allow more advance.

the difference is on the fuel pump feed, and ecu live.

TVR's are shite. Handling is appalling...not to mention shite build quality. Noble is where its at ;)

aye throttle responsive is loads sharper, but as said, if set-up properly it will be equal/better than std on the driveability front. what cams are you going to be running mate?

well yes, from what we can see it just looks polished...but the shape etc cannot be seen.

Theres no real pics of the inlet ports, or even the work "in" the exhaust ports. However, the main indicator to me that its a pretty poor job, is the "shape" on the ends of the guides, that can be seen on the third pic. This irregularity and uneven shaping is caused buy the tool inadvertantly...

Big ends are only one grind undersize...10thou/0.25mm. They are available off the shelf from Federal Mogul.

currently i cant map anything as i havnt got my rolling road built! i would ditch the smt6 and get a proper ecu...personally.

But tbh...i would recomend fitting a williams engine first off. I can do this for £400+engine.

I can do an install for about £2750. fully fitted, working, mapped perfectly!

Sounds like you need a bit of map tweaking Thejesus. If they werent balanced right u would notice a rough idle before any drivability issues. You should see decent MPG gains aswell once she's properly set-up. let me know how u get on. Fred, who's doing/supplying your modified heads mate?

try de-glazing them...but sounds like fade. like ben said, they may only now be "bedded"....hopefully so anyway.

I dont get why people are so negative...it must be personal experiences...i.e. bad ones due to bad installs. Fred hit it on the head when he said the ecu/set-up is only as good as the person mapping it. so true. if the install is a professional job, there should be zero problems...

do you mean less duration? or less timing advance? or something else? lol And most of the mk2's with cams are still on MAP set-up...so will still encounter the same problems, regardles off ecu type/make/"group"!

the problem with higher spec cams is the over-lap interferes with the MAP reading casuing fuelling issues low down...rough idling. so as long as the duration isnt great enough to cause this problem, then a remap of the std ecu would be ok.
