It really is pointless using a rolling road to see how much power a mod has made.
The only way youll know how much power difference it has actually made is by using an engine dyno and making sure the air and coolant temps are the same. This is not practical though!
Have you tried a different dealer?
The best judge of a car not being right is the person who drives it.
It is popular belief that non-enclosed induction kits (e.g. your one) will actually lose you power!
My dealer (Coulsdon branch of Renault Croydon) are totally faultless. The car has been...
I was told (with my old 1.2) that 1 month over two years or 1,000 miles over the 12,000 is the max (which ever comes first). Will probably be the same for 172s.
After this they can contest your warranty.
I was the other way around - got used to the brakes of the 172 really quickly, but nearly put myself through the windscreen when I used their 1.2!
I hope they totally sort the car for you this time.
So if you have the 1.6 then there is no way that you ownz any RenaultSport is there?
However if you own a 1.6 then Spoon do make balanced pistons for your car and a VTEC controller.
Im still wondering how your car reaches higher power at higher revs though?
The VTEC controller that isnt even made for your car (if its the 2002 onwards model) will not increase the cars ability to rev. It sets the point at which the VTEC system engages. Peak power cannot be increased by having one of these as the car will still fall off cam at the same point.
I noticed you changed your post about balanced pistons just then. Does this mean:
You dont have balanced pistons
You thought you had them but then remembered that you dont
You realised that Spoon do not make them
You have just confirmed to us all that the smell we can all smell is...
With the the improved throttle response its hardly the weather to be making comparisins in - constant rain here!
My wheels broke into a brief spin last night round a corner in 3rd gear!
The owner has pressed the trip computer button (on the end of the right hand steering wheel stalk) whilst turning the key 1 or 2 clicks.
This invokes the self diagnostic for the instruments and warnings.
BenR told me a while ago and I tried it myself.
The Cup goes to 8,000 rpm - nice!
This is normal. The front brakes do around 80% of the braking. The rear brakes are there to balance the car.
Most hatches (of the non-hot variety) have drums at the back, because the rear brakes do so little compared to the front brakes.
The thing is youll be making the car more efficient in an area its not designed to spend much time in if you go too wild.
The car probably wont respond well lower down the revs like it did before.
Thats spot on - 148 lb/ft.
The thing is that the standard car makes this figure until around 5,400rpm - whereas that beauty of an engine holds onto the torque much longer and it wouldnt peak until around 6,500rpm. This is where that whopping power figure comes from.
Let us know how you get...
If you are intending serious modifications and dont lighten and balance, its like building a house on really poor foundations.
It doesnt matter how nice your en-suite bathroom is (how big your exhaust is), what colour your wallpaper is (how much boost your running), the house will start to...
Well I was the first customer to get the ECU and was assured it is warranty approved at the time. It has been back for warranty work since having it fitted and Renault said nothing.
Work was completed under warranty
ECU was not overwritten like most people believe
Its going back again soon...
If you have no luck I could mail you some.
Renaults rear wiper is around £30.00 from memory!
We replaced all of mine for significantly less than that (My dad owns a car spares business).
PM me if you need to.
Are the amps getting airflow to them - this sounds like the classic symptom of overheat protection to me. Most amps have a light that switches on to tell you they are in protection mode though .
I would aim a fan right at them (you can get 12v car fans) and see if it still happens...
