rather than emulating type r forum car hiearchy how about a section for Clio Wives and girlfriends whereby we post pics of our better half for others to ogle? :)
meguires is the three stage stuff i have ordered:
stage 1 is polish for the shine
stage 2 is the deep gloss glaze
stage 3 is canuba wax for hardened finish
Faceman
Thankyou for your advice on the meguires stuff...there range is confusing because they also have the gold range products and more than one car shampoo....I am interested in the SEC and s100 stuff so going to look at the website now for it

I have used Zymol and it seemed to give a brilliant shine.
But I have ordered meguiars 3 stage system because stage 1 cleans the paint, stage 2 will polish it....going to do this multiple times and stage 3 will seal in the finish.
I am going to give the Meguiars stuff a go because...
Girlracer my experience of car polishing is that when bottles have on:
My bottle says "For best results remove excess polish before it dries by buffing lightly with a clean soft cotton cloth. Do not use in direct sunlight or if surface is hot to the touch"
then this means apply the...
One way to settle this is to get say 10 cups and 10 172s, ones which havent been tuned and have a morning and afternoon race on a racetrack and look at the results.
Yesterday was hot and I was thankful for the aircon in my 172 :)
People should just enjoy the cars they drive...I have...
after 200 miles i was taking it up and down motorways at 100 - 120mph and intermittently high reving for short periods of time thru......I think running in is a thing of the past somewhat , but the car feels great on performance......had the 172 up to 144mph.....But enjoy it :)
Would anyone else agree that the 172 feels faster somedays than not so fast on others?
...now the old which car is faster scenerio...I have raced other 172s beat some and lost other races.depends on gear change and getting a good start and holding nerve on the twisty bits.
but i have had 2...

if you think your car is running slow...if your running optimax try running the tank down and fill up with something like Fina sul...then take your car on a long thrashing drive until the car is empty again....you might just need to get the car really hot to blow the carbon off the...
The Renault ECU upgrade is not exclusive to the Cup owners since both cup and 172 have same engine. My friend has fitted the new Renault ECU to his Mk2 172 without any problems.
I am waiting until all tune upgrades are out for the CUP before fitting them to my mk2 172
A 3 - 4 BHP gain isnt bad if it makes the 172 a 176BHP...
Once I have fitted this....I am going to a RR to see how many horses the car is pushing out at the flywheel and wheels.
I bought the car in December 2002 and now have 6500 miles on the clock..Every morning i do 40 miles on the...

Thanks for your advice...much appreciated....The decision is between the Green replacement and Group N.....
If i went for the group N....would I buy it from Renault Dealer
I had thought about putting extra air ducting in as well...
Hopefully I will fit one this weekend, I will let...
Hi have many of you tried replacing the paper air element in the 172 with something like a green perfromance air element replacement or something from K&N.
I am not talking about a full induction kit...just the thing inside.
If you have done this, are the differences noticable.

Direct Line were cheapest for me..tried about 30 companies including the so called cheap ones.
£480 a year.
I am 30, have 9 years no claims bonus, car parked on driveway...girlfriend on insurance which brought the price down...insured for class 1 business use as well

Cupsize didnt you try and preach to me in another posting...do you remember when you said it swas stupid to go up to 143mph...remember when i toasted a cup?....well in one of your postings you stated you raced beyond 120mph....so i think you have double standards and full of sh!T too.

That was a good posting...I think Williams have stayed exclusive because of the simple fact they retain their value, the insurance but also they made them in limited numbers...reminds me on the Honda Integra Type R.
I would have a Williams given the option.
If i had a cup because I do like them, the only Mod i would make is having the seats re-trimmed in same 172 half leather and matching bright paintwork blue alcatera trim...i would do the door cards...a ploy taken from the Focus cosworth...The interior trim would look hot like the rest of the car...
I think Cupsize "Clio Sport Area Rep" deliberated locked the identical topic and started this one up with a slight deviation on the word dual to duel so he could have some kind of pseudo glory relating too number of postings....these posting are hot on this topic...any other glory hunters out...
So far I have beat: Celica 140BHP, Almera GTI, Clio cup and pulled away from BMWs with laughable ease...they give up
But I was fair and square beaten by a RS Turbo.

Everything is cool and calm in my world....but I may be interested in coming to Nuremburg....the open Autobahns and group N air element under the bonnet of my car...with 98+ fuel in the tank.
On scorching summer days in a traffic jam , I too will be ice cool inside of my 172 with the Air Con on...I agree with Visceral...quality of life over out and out whizz bang speed is best....who really gives a toss about being .3 quicker to 60...the twisties sort out the men from the boys...
