Hi, I've recently replaced the throttle pedal unit on my car in an attempt to cure the fault i've been getting with the throttle (it seems to have worked :D) anyway... the pedal unit I've replaced it with doesn't have the metal trim that the RS models have. I was just wondering if it is...

you mean the one between the plenum and the head? isn't that the one which requires most matching? iirc the main area for improvement is between the inlet mani and the head itself. I may be wrong.
