Who cares what Mike's car is up for? I'd understand if anyone quibbling it was a potential buyer.
On a car like that it's surely common sense to at least start high and work from there rather than start at a 'fair' price and kick yourself for letting it go 'cheap'.
If I didnt have the outright cash for a car I'd take out a personal loan rather than go down the finance route, that way the loan isn't secured against the car and more often than not the interest rates are more sensible.

Once warmed up I used to boot mine everywhere and it'd still return 38+ mpg. I actually found keeping it below 3k or whatever didn't make any difference at all to mpg.

I'd reccomend getting a couple of polishing pads, and Menzerna 203s or Meguairs 205, both of which are quite flexible and allow you to vary how much you cut.
