172 mk2 had it a year, not bored yet. I only drive it at weekends so every saturday is still a buzz after drving an escort van all week!
Im definately keepting it for the forseeable until the Insurance for the VX is anything like sensible for me!
how many runs you all get in then? Was it stil w**k organisation like back end of last season? Im deffo coming to the next one, Damn family weddings made me miss this un!
Ill swap you my 172 for your VX!
Tuning wise based on experience of the 172 (which has the same engine as you might know already) Your looking at serious engine work to get any noticeable gains. A Chip would probably be a good idea but as the 182 already has an extra 10 bhp from exhaust mods...
if you felt no difference between a 1.2 16 valve and a 182 you cannot possibly have been driving it "properly" I take it you had a salesman at the side of you? I had a 1.4 Fiat bravo before the 172 and its just in a different world. Its like comparing a TVR tuscan with a push bike fella!
If you aint signed anything or been cautioned about the speeding offemse m8 you arent gonna get done. If they were gonne do you for speeding they would tell you exactly where they got you, what speed you were doing, lectures you then effectively arrest you ( do the "Im cautioning you for the...
at the moment just decat and a piper x filter. Planning on getting an r sport ECU in the not to distant. That will prolly be it then apar from maybe getting the back half of the exhaust sorted
My current best is 15.4 with a piper x open filter so basically standard. It feels a lot quicker now with the decat and more miles so Im hoping for high 14s this year (specially when the r sport ecu is on)

Ive got one on my 172 fella, best £100 you can spend on engine mods by a long way. The 172 is very difficult to get anything more out of so decat is a pretty effective mod. You feel it more at about 5-6 k just seems to give it more puff through all gears
Save for longer, get your no claims built up then get a valver or 172 or summat.
Sorry sounded like me dad there for a minuite lol. I would get some stereo in it, keep it a while then when the time comes take your stereo out and stick it in your 172 ;)
Well lane ARE a bunch of utter w**kers.
Remember all that hassle I had with them when I booked a rolling road day with them then they DOUBLED the price!!! Complained but basically got told to f**k off because "we dont need the business"
They are only popular because for a long time they...
 @ Running in just thrash it! Engines are bench tested at 14000 rpm before been fitted. Mines got nearly 12k and is a totally different car to when it had 5 or 6 k on it. It had a pretty hard run in (always allowed to warm up tho before been thrashed.
I would get it done at a garage, its NOT as easy as it sounds as the bolts are really awkward. I took it to a local garage and it took two mechanics 25 mins to fit it. £25 it cost from a branch of Gordons Tyres.
Nowt much, been an call out most of yeasterday afternoon/evening, still on stanby now but (touch wood) its pretty quiet. Gonna wash car in a bit and go cruisin ;)
m8 you need to keep it, 9k is when a car juuuust starts to really sing for you. My 172s got 11.5k on and it get better all the time. Looking back to when it had 1200 on its a totally different car
