If the seller can prove its been repaired by a reputable bodyshop, using origional parts to a high standard then they are definately worth looking at. My mate bought a cooper s that was accident repaired saved him about 3.5K and it was a minter only had 16,000 on the clock not one of his mates...

Not had to change it yet on the 172 but had exactly the same problems with the Bosch wiper on my 218.

Havent had the priveledge of driving a trophy but i imagine they are alot better than a standard 182. The difference between a standard 182 and a standard 172 is minimal and doesnt twarrant the extra cash IMO I would like to have a go in a trophy at some point. I dare say that is a diferent...

As above halfrauds wheel paint is good (although probs a little more expensive than other places) try to find a high temp laquer as it will withstand the hot brakedust better. ;)

Rear Quaterlight is the rear window. (Sorry old mini speak). You could also check the rear lights what is actually wet?? the whole of the boot or just part of it also is the floor behind the front seat wet.

Dont know too much about the 197 but i would choose that as an upgrade over the 182 as it is too similar to the 172 to warrant the money IMO .;)

Does the Cup have a sunroof :S The FF doesnt. Check the boot seals. or the rear quaterlight seals. Get in the car and get a mate to spray it with a hosepipe to see if you can see the leak.
