let us not forget that they are running full slicks, and therefore can carry far more speed into a corner. Therefore not needing to use the brakes as much. Plus with the short cut gearbox's werent they topping out at only 120mph? (i may be wrong on that).
But anywho, we all have different...
my point about the STI was just in return of your theory of only needed bigger brakes if you have extra power.
And as you rightly said, there are all sorts of factors that will make a clio lap faster. But were talking about brake size here.
What i am disagreeing with is your statement that...
well its bigger than standard, using 295mm disc.
But it was designed to fit under 15's.
as we all know clio's handle best on 15's. Hence the criteria of the design.
whilst what some of what you have said makes sense, i disagree.
Weight will always play a part when braking.
For example scooby STI brakes are fine for the road, but track day nuts change to 6 pots front, 4 pots rear. The car has no extra power, but it is to over come fade, give better...
in answer to the questions...
Kit is approx £800
Runnin gthem with Mintex 1144's, as not too keen on the Hawk pads Compbrake supply.
Still bedding them in, but feel strong already.
Disc is 295mm and fits behind the Speedlines, as long as there are no weights. Which my wheels must be...
fitted all new brakes to the 172.
Did the rears a few weeks back, as a wheel bearing went, so i thought it was a good excuse to do the discs and pads too.
Went with K-Tec's disc and pad package, which i didnt realise till they turned up are genuine Renault discs that they get drilled...
i am hoping this is the case!
Plus i doubt there are many power rangers (motorcyclists) that dont have race cans etc on thier bikes!
anyways, back to the car, its the weekend, whats the plans for the car ben?
what makes people think that things cant be improved upon?
Whilst the Sachs setup is amazing for the road, and very good on track, its not the be all, end all of setups.
taken from a very well respected Cit/Peu tuner....
There has been a bit of controversy recently regarding our manifolds against various others, especially against others stainless steel units and the benefits of 4-2-1 and 4-1. Regarding the merits of 4-2-1 and 4-1, some people seem to have...
do these new rules apply to private track days held at the 'Ring?
Seems to be a case as in most track days etc, act sensible and enjoy.
Act like a tit, go home!
i wonder how they will police this. whether it will be random spot checks in the car park or what.
As you could park elsewhere, got get your ticket, then drive straight in and on, bypassing everything.
will be interesting to see how it all develops, as it could put alot of people under...
another excellent update!
with the cage, in the description on ebay, it says it comes with harness attachment bars.
I didnt get these with mine, unless it means you fix them to the long cross bar at the back?
any ideas???
i paid 16k on a 03 Spec-C Impreza, and all i saw of it was 2 pictures!
madness, but she was a minter!
You should be ok, seeing as you have done HPI etc, plus the service and warranty you will get!
return to standard for sure.
i tried to sell mine modded for 9k, and couldnt.
so sold it to a trader for 7.5k, then sold the rest of the gear for about 2k!
