yeah car came to an end at a Bedford Autodrome track day. lost all brakes (pads decided to slice in half) and went over a 12 foot mud bank backwards at 70ish.
Had plans in place to rebuild it, to an even better spec. But the company i gave £1700 for a new shell (sema welded, roll caged etc)...
had a few requests for pictures etc, so thought i would put a few up!
Starting life as a brand new 'X' registered VTR, the car took shape over a number of years.
Firstly having the brakes and suspension uprated. Once i was happy with the chassis setup, it was time to extract more power...
mine did that, but after i changed my steering wheel.
was down to a sensor on the steering wheel hub, which tells the ECU which way the wheels are pointing, to do with the T/C.
but does sound like the brake pedal switch.
I ran GrpN mounts on my saxo, and like said, one of the best upgrades.
I seem to remember Yozzasport saying they were devoloping some, a fair while ago, as we didnt bother going further with it, as there was no point two companies having the same product available.
Its a shame the cup...
Like i mentioned, electrics are cut if the impact is hard enough, so its not an issue.
plus if you have hit something that hard, its gonna be one of many worries!
Also, cars with throttle bodies lose the rail gaurd too, does this mean they are unsafe?
As usual, seems people are making a...
think u will find that in a frontal impact all electrics are cut, which means the fuel will stop pumping, which in turn will stop it from spraying out of the now exposed fuel rail (well apart from the small amount in there).
And if the impact is that hard, no fuel rail protector is gonna...
when they say exhaust springs, do they mean the nut, bolt and spring setup that holds the cat to the manifold?
If so, £117 is a complete rip off.
It is a fiddley job, but buy the parts, and do it yourself.
if its not that bit, then ignore me!
lol, sounds like a plan!!!
i will take a closer look once it all gets here.
gonna do it over the winter, ready for next year, as if all goes to plan will be competing in Time Attack 2008 (club class).
cage hasnt arrived yet, so havent had a chance to have a good look.
As far as i am aware i will be cutting the dash to fit the cage. Cant decide to get dash flocked before or after i have cut it etc.
Didnt realise about the washer bottle etc, so something else i will have to think about...
good stuff!
good job u didnt spray yours white, otherwise ours would look pretty similar when done!
As i have those seats on order (carbon shelled ones!) and that cage!
Which reminds me, is that the cage complete, or are there bits u havent attached yet?
also, i want some of those...
like said, it dont really matter if you paid a little too much, as long as your happy.
i know i paid over the odd's for mine, but its what i wanted, and i was happy!
wont be a true reading really if you start disconnecting hoses etc.
unless u want pub ammo rather than a real road figure.
PS: we all know RR read outs need to be tacket with a small pinch of salt!
The T/B setup was purchased from GMC Motorsport (as they designed a 180 degree trumpet and air box setup, to keep inlet tract length).
And it was all fitted and mapped by a place called Mech Repairs, which were recommended to me by OMEX (i beleive they are only up the road).
The car run...
just my 2p's worth on this subject...
there is no reliabilty issues with OMEX, Jenveys etc.
Its how they are fitted, setup and finished.
My old VTS ran OMEX and Jenveys, was setup properly, and ran its entire life without skipping a beat. It would sit idle for months on end sometimes...
2001 172, car runs well etc etc.
but....
the trip computer, mpg readout, etc etc seems to reset itself randomly.
well i say radomly, it seems to do it mostly when i start the car, but not always.
any idea's what might cause this?
cheers to anyone that helps!
