Didn't realise it broke down en route. Those reliable BMW's eh.
Car is looking great, once I've finished spending every single waking moment postponing the inevitable breakdown I'm going to have with mine I'll pop round for a catchup.
Also Oli's M3 came up well after a wax...
It's what I keep telling myself to keep me sane anyway.
In other news whilst trying to locate my random knock I've ripped the threaded bar out of the engine mount.
Car 1 - 0 Rhys.
I actually wrote that in my project thread! With an engine crane it'd be much faster to just whip the engine and box out together rather than the box on its own.
First off is the car on the floor? If you've got it in the air you're just making the job harder for yourself.
I just stuck a deep socket on it and a breaker bar. Didn't even bother with the Allen key in the top
It's sods law that you'll damage the rack but rather than piss about with the steering alignment and possibly not lining it up correctly I'd just undo the 4 bolts holding the rack to the subframe. They are a pain as you can barely get any movement on a spanner on the top 2 (bottom two are easy)...
That's ridiculous. Absolute credit to you. I know others have said it's one of the best ph1's out there but I can't think of one that would sit higher up the list than this.
Incredible.
Does the car blow a constant temperature no matter what setting you have the heater on?
If so check my project thread. It's a pretty easy fix using only a couple of torx sockets and a cable tie :)
I think taking the box and engine out as one and doing it all off the car would have honestly been quicker.
Only thing I can think of that would potentially bite you in the arse would be the manifold bolts.
Honestly don't see the problem with reg plates online. You can see them if you walk past your car...
He actually doesn't seem to have anything to hide either.
Looks wise for the car not an awful lot tbh. List of things to do is pretty big though. It's a never ending cycle!
I want a cup spoiler, shorter aerial, 182 interior as mine is a LOT shabby and the 182 interior is a little fresher, ph1 gearknob, snappy steeringwheel, wheels need refurbing...
Yeah I'll give you a shout. I'm avoiding driving it at the minute except for work until the driveshaft is sorted and I've found the other knock. Must have left something loose.
It's ridiculously soft in comparison thought. Much nicer to use.
I'm utterly useless when it comes to updates. I've got one picture as usual but this weekend I set about replacing the gearbox, clutch and both driveshafts.
Quick picture under the car whilst I had a smoke before removing the old clutch

Thrown it all back...
Cursed at it for being a dick.
Spent all weekend swapping the gearbox, both driveshafts and a clutch only to find that the second hand shaft I bought for the driverside is just as bad as the one I replaced. CNUT!
Now going to have to buy another one and fit that. What an arse.
That's the only thing I can think. Ive got an RS tuner so could look at the live data but wouldn't really know where to start. You can see on idle the ignition timing retarding as it bogs and the lambda reading drop into what it flags as a red colour which is what made me think lambda.
When...
Since I got the car there has been an odd misfire at idle. This can be seen on the revs and you can hear it in the engine bay and visibly see the engine shake as it does it.
It isn't to any sort of pattern, I.e it doesn't do it once every second or whatever, it'll do it once, then wait a...
