just wat i was gonna say - its got to be the turbo - if not i rather stick to the clio. But still not sure if i prefer the vx turbo over the vee.

drove my mates vx220 - 1st its a pain to get in & out off that car - 2nd i 172 cup is just as fast, i raced it head-on and drive it for days. Mind the cup is superchiped.

eibachs are good- but ur going for looks- eibachs lower a 172ff nicely but not the cup. i was asking the same questions 1 years ago - in the end it had to be coilovers

my cup is 89k fsh everything done - run more sweet than my mates 172 with half the mileage. So its fine, just check that everything is done
