Yeah, shame my pics aren't that great. It looked great as he drove off, gutted I have a silver one, it looked so lame next to it :(
Cheers for the kind words folks
This rather tasty black R26 with Lux and 'Black Pack' belongs to a fellow forum member, who contacted me to see what I could do with the paint on his Deep Black R26.
After a few false starts, I finally managed to be free for the car last Sunday. Below details the detail (excuse the crap...
Yep, DAS6 is a DA (Dual Action) which is safer, but correction takes a lot longer.
Great results Needster, that kit is definitely the one to go for on Clio paint, glad it all worked out well for you :)
Russ.
Looks great mate - just about to get new discs myself, so I'll be interested to see what these are like - are they just 197 discs?
I'll reply to your text later too :)
Wise words. I changed mine for a Meg R26, and tbh, I miss the NA engine and chuckability a fair bit. I'm looking at FD2 Civic's at the moment, and possibly 200's.
No it doesn't make sense! Your 197 is special!!
That MG was one of the fastest cars there, went past us quicker than the FQ360 did, it was 300BHP and stripped (they are 1240KG standard, same as a 197)
Good work there, impressive turnaround
The marks on the paint look like claying marks, where not enough lube or a too aggressive clay bar has been used (not by you, but in the past?)
You did get past a 182 without too much bother - I think a lot of it is down to how 'committed' the driver is, and Mr Burns is VERY committed/a 'hooligan', lol!
You can see the difference in stopping power though, and the day just highlighted to me how much of a difference handling and brakes...
Steve, he wouldn't let Ste past at all and blocked him a couple of times! Once quite aggressively (at the bottom of the pit straight). He was definitely holding him up through 90% of the circuit, with the exception of the longer straights, but even then I was amazed how well the Clio stuck...
Today's detail was a returning customer - I detailed this R32 last September, fully correcting it then protecting it through Winter with a layer of Zymol's Vintage Wax (£2180!).
Over the course of the Winter period, the car had picked up a bit of swirling and the protection was all but gone...
The AG kit is great really and shouldn't leave any marks on Clio paint. They include a small bottle of SRP for you to remove any marks anyway, so you're sorted :)
My poor Megane is racking up the miles, so I tend to keep details within 30 miles or so of Wolverhampton I'm afraid :(
You're more than welcome to pop up here though. Oh and yep, less than £100 normally.
Exactly - try it without lube, and it'll stick like s**t to a blanket - the lube keeps it away from the paint, but the clay being soft still picks up anything on top of the clearcoat
