Once its starts crunching its *usually* game over - gearbox replacement. Because its a 9 plate out of warranty renault will consider your service history 'loyalty' to renault & offer you some sort of goodwill offer on a new one- somewhere ususally between 50-90% S

The best model on the 197 is the R27- They are great cars, you just have to have your eyes open- Gearbox / steering & brakes are the weak points- ( plus recaro wear) If you get a 197 try & get spec- Cup pack Climate Projector lights- As above with the 200s. S

Phase 2 172 for around 2k will get you a VERY good one, even 1800 may get a good one around 60k miles. Save a £300 for any bits that go wrong, still giving you a bit to play with to spruce it up. You still need North of 3k to buy a decent 182.
