197 gear boxes....

Noticed recently that 1st to 2nd often crunches at higher revs, noticed it when pulling out off toll booth on m6 hoping this is just my unsympathetic driving style. All other gears are absolutely fine and I know 3rd to 4th can be a sign of bad things but mines spot on. Also saw that early 197s had 1st 2nd issues but mines on an 09 plate so shouldn't be an issue?? Is this a common thing with them or should I be worried ?

Once its starts crunching its *usually* game over - gearbox replacement.

Because its a 9 plate out of warranty renault will consider your service history 'loyalty' to renault & offer you some sort of goodwill offer on a new one-
somewhere ususally between 50-90%

So 90% goodwill = £200 to you.
50% = 1k to you...


I would take it in for diagnosis for now... then go straight to RUK .-

Seems to be OK now starting to think the poor changes were driver error! Did essex to crewe (200m) in it yesterday no problems. Plenty of fast 1st-2nd changes too. If it was on it's way out would the crunching happen all the time or start of every now n then slowly getting worse.?
