    Fully spec'd 200 Vs turbo'd Trophy

Everything has been done nicely on it and it looks oem but the gearbox would put me off. Yes it's got the Quaife to put the power down, but what's it got to stop it breaking? The JC5 is known to be weak. 400lb/ft is like you or me smoking a 200 a day and drinking meths. It won't end well and...

    ITB'd Road & Track Ph1 Titanium 172

Re: Ph1 172 Track day went well. Only issue was not having enough camber so some AST top mounts are on the list of things to do. Wouldn't mind a bit more power so looking at ITBs again for early next year and some weight loss, so Foamalux door cards, polycar windows and an alloy bonnet will be...

    Yokohama A048 What Compound?

If its stripped out with little weight in the back you could run medium up front with soft on the back so you get them up to temp.

    Ad08 v fed 595 rsr

I'll have a look what dates are on mine. But for the money I can't fault them. I got the 205/50-R15 for £63 a tyre. They went up early summer to £99 a tyre and now they are back to £62. Federal are popular elsewhere in the world so if demand is high and the cost to mytyres goes up then that...

    KTEC DTH ITBs without aerocatches

Ahh, so it's still a viable option then!

    Best oil and spark plugs

Then as above. A good 5w40 will do you fine along with the NGK plugs.

    Best oil and spark plugs

Oil grade depends on what the car is going to be used for. But the best is a triple ester type. If the engine is brand new and being run in then cheapy mineral oil is your friend. As for plugs the best are Denso IK20 but the standard NGK will do.

    KTEC DTH ITBs without aerocatches

Hmmm, maybe the flush aerocatches painted silver to match with some silver anodized alloy screws then. Don't want to risk writing off the car.

    KTEC DTH ITBs without aerocatches

Are you still on the standard rad Phil? I know someone who could fab a bar to take the bonnet catch.

    KTEC DTH ITBs without aerocatches

Ideally I wanted to avoid the whole Polo rad, bonnet butchering route. I agree with your reasoning. After all, it's torque that moves the car along

    KTEC DTH ITBs without aerocatches

Has anyone managed to fit the DTH ITBs from Ktec without removing the slam panel and bonnet catch? I asked Ktec and they said it might be possible with shorter trumpets and air filter but they haven't tried as it might lose torque. The AT Poer kit fits fine thought and that makes good torque...

182 style manifold and decat - worth while?

I prefer the 182 manifold personally but I only fitted it as I was doing other mods as above. On its own its a PITA to do for little benefit really.

Clio 182 to clio 172 Exhaust Joining

Are you going to MOT it? I went for a cat to save hassle, and having to make sure the front exhaust joint sealed properly each time. If you just want a decat then get a couple of flanges and someone to weld it up.
  16. Grandpa Joe

heitating, exhaust seems louder and revving by itself!

Might be a dodgy idle valve, try taking it off and giving it a clean with some carb cleaner.

    Tonight, I went 3 wheeling..

Had to tighten mine twice on track this weekend. I just checked them after every session. Perhaps a not setting loctite/jointing compound would be a good idea!

    Polycarb rear 1/4s

I'd like the thermoformed but don't fancy paying the extra. If the non-thermoformed look ok then I'll get them. If you can find some pics that would be great thanks!

    Updated oil pump relief spring

If that's on 5W40 then run a slightly thicker oil like a 5w50 or if its really getting abused a 10w60. An oil cooler would help too.

    Dropped Valve............... Really

Depends on the severity, if the head has come off the valve it'll be a right mess and a new engine job. If the valve just isn't opening and closing properly (broken valve spring for example) then a replacement valve and spring is required. It'll have a missfire as one cylinder won't be making...

    reusing head bolts and gasket

http://www.vacmotorsports.com/faqsDetail.php?catID=10 Q: Can I reuse an MLS gasket? A: Here is our take on this. If the engine hasn't been run very long (less than a few hundred miles or less than a few hours) an MLS gasket can almost surely be re-used if you have to remove...

    reusing head bolts and gasket

Yes. Measure the head bolts, if they are 117.5mm or less from under the head to the end of the thread. If it's a multi layer steel type and it's nearly new and undamaged it'll be fine. I've done this numerous times, nothing wrong with it :)
