I bought a cambelt and waterpump kit for my Focus a couple of months back and the pump was damaged like that. Luckily I noticed and got a replacement sorted. So it might not be in the engine or coolant system.
I remember reading a guide by Rally Design a few years ago about choosing the right piston size for 4 pots. See here http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/pdf/designing_4_pot_brakes.pdf
Now it says for working out a suitable 4 piston replacement for single piston callipers with sliders that the area of...
Re: Ph1 172
Not had a chance to fit the seats, and nowhere to do it either at the moment :|
I did get a chance to swing by Buckley tyres and have the camber bolts set up though.
The most I could get on the drivers side was 1 degree 50 minutes (1.83 deg. decimal) so the passenger side was...
EBay intercooler and decent beaded pipework.
Hydraulic clutch conversion isn't that bad. You could modify your existing pedal box to take a girling cylinder.
184 bhp and 173 lb/ft. That's with the cams, ported head, 182 manifold, matched inlets and ITG filter behind the headlight.
I could take it on other rollers and make more power though!
I've had this on a previous car. Peak at 6600 when it was mapped and the next place I took it to it was 7000.
Just had my 172 set up on the Pipers and peak is at 6400 on the Dyno Dynamics rollers at RS Tuning.
I'd have gone a gunmetal colour but they look ok. I love the GTA, lovely car and oh the noise from the 3.2!
I was at one point debating one of these, a Mk1 FRS or a R26. I never tried one with a Q2 but I can imagine it makes a great deal of difference as I could feel the difference with the...
Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco
I went from new standard mounts and a poly dogbone to the vibratechnics mounts and it's loads better. Not too stiff and no noticeable vibration either.
What ram pipes have you got in the fogs? I've tried a couple of different ones but none of them fit nicely.
Re: Ph1 172
Making a start on getting the track seats in. Bought a pair of OMP subframes and I marked them off after a long day, needless to say I drilled the holes in the wrong place... should have double checked!
Anyway the seats are fitted to them now so hopefully by the end of this week...
For the lap belts that should bolt around the handbrake area, how have you guys fixed them?
Is it a case of drilling a hole behind the handbrake and getting a load spreading plate or can I fix them somewhere else? To the subframes perhaps.
Re: Ph1 172
Yes it has :) well, safer than the standard valves anyway!
173lb/ft, can't grumble at that. I was hoping for 160lb/ft and it does over 160 from 4500-6000 so very happy with that. I can't tell you how it goes though :( I haven't taken it over 3500!
The gearbox is leaking oil from...
Re: Ph1 172
Yeah I'd have expected about 160-165 as standard. So about 20bhp for the mods I've done is bang on the money IMO.
Say 5bhp for the inlets and filter, 10bhp for the cams, 5bhp for the exhaust and sports cat. The headwork won't have increased the power output but it will have helped...
Re: Ph1 172
No, but the figures are more realistic than most ;)
And my only real expense on modifications are the ported inlets, cams, 4-2-1 and sports cat, so £600 for them isn't too bad. The head is so well priced and has been reconditioned with supertech valves and new seals and the engine...
Re: Ph1 172
Same mods (headwork, matched inlets, 4-2-1 and pipers) and a very similar graph.

Re: Ph1 172
No, fueling with the fastchip map was fine. Paul has increased the ignition advance and sorted the fueling to suit.
I'll let you know when the gearbox is fixed :(
Re: Ph1 172
It's all setup now and running nicely
Some bad news though. Gearbox diff seal on the drivers side is leaking so had to take it easy coming home :(
Adaptronic for £1100 fitted and mapped at EFI Parts. Chris can wire it so you can revert back to the standard ECU if required. He was going to do this for me before I sold the ITBs.
Re: Ph1 172
Maybe it all just needed bedding in a bit. Gave it progressively hard driving and if feels amazing now :D
The induction noise from the ITG filter is lovely :)
