I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 and I've found it great, I'm sure KDF recommended a media centre version of Linux but I can't remember what it was. Remember if you want to try a distro of Linux you can always download it and run it from the Live CD and try before you commit to it.

The PDF works fine for me, if your using Windows you'll need something like Adobe Acrobat Reader
