I don't see the problem personally, sure its no BMW styling wise, buts its a neat little cheap family car, that customer base doesn't want splitters/spoilers/brake vents. Neat little car imo!
Yeah good point, Bosch do this all the time with braking components, outsourcing manufacture for other component companies etc.
edit: I'd also love to see the compound details on the OEM Ferodo pads compared to the DS2500 as the standards weight in at £40-something a set, a bargain compared to...
Probably the other part, I'm sure there is a choice between two off the top of my head. The 182 number comes up as the Ferodo ones it seems, but they also fit the 172's (obviously)
I've just always wondered why Ferodo can't make their own pads fit properly!? It should be dead easy for them...
Check the back of a standard set, ferodo punched into them - I'm picking some up at lunch from Renault, I'll post up a pic.
There are two sets that fits the RS IIRC, I'll get the details at lunch.
edit: quick search - Mike @ Rentech mentions it too...
In case you didn't know fella that's quite dangerous ;) I couldn't see the branding on the sides of your rear wheels @ the Staines meet the other night due to the rubbing that has gone on!!
Why is it that Ferodo, manufacturer of the standard RS front pads, cannot seem too make aftermarket pads that require filing etc to get them to fit or just don't fit at all? Any ideas?
The Renault dealers are hit & miss it seems, my local in Slough is great, parts are often in stock no matter how obscure they are (helps being one of the part hubs for the south mind you) or they are ordered for 8am the next morning without fail.
My colleague James handles all the mapping / tuning, but I know a few bits & pieces ;)
I'm afraid I'm no map engineer, so for the real detail of how the maps are engineered aside from the results they can provide you would need to contact Henk the ECU engineer from fastchip, his traders...
No problems whatsoever with the RSTuner maps, they are designed to work well within the engines tolerances.
The RSTuner maps are a very restrained mapping system, they are just designed with keeping a standard car reliable & smooth over a long period of time in mind. You can push the...
completely forgot to update this... so if anyone is interested:
I ran the tires for a day or so prior to Snetterton to get them scrubbed in, I decided against shaving them as the forecast was not particularly good so I figured I would probably be needing the tread depth.
I haven't used any...
so true, someone with passion could have got some quality snaps, instead they had a bored to f*ck photographer just snapping away cos he's paid to do it, not because he wants to take amazing photos, although its a nice touch either way and for free I'm not exactly complaining ;)
sump key at the rear of the box near the gear selector arm - no need to remove the undertray as its a lot further back than the engine oil plug. Replace the washer once you've drained it.
if there is a hole on the front its missing otherwise you'll see it ;)
Its on the front face of the box (radiator side bang in the middle.) Have a reach around you'll find it.
butterfly is white/black plastic, on the front of the box down the side.
Fill it through this hole with a flexy spout steadily until the oil dribbles out and your at the right level.
As I own a set and track them occasionally so I thought I would throw my 2 pence worth in.
I am a bit of a softie compared to some - subsquently I don't like things to loud, to hard etc - think silenced decat ;) makes the car more bearable with the mileage I do (30k in 6 months)
This was...
Re: My 182, six months of ownership in words and pics
*Proper image update*
Received the images of the Brands Day from Renault today, great work by them, the days they organise really are a credit to them and the little touches like the CD are spot on!
Seats are a big one, standards (with airbags - not cup seats) weight in at nearly 30kg each IIRC, a decent set of one piece light weight buckets can come in at under 10kg each, so you can find a 35-40kg saving just from that!
Bit disappointed really Jack. I thought we were having an interesting discussion on the brake bias in the other thread and you turned it into a personal attack here. What with the accusations of having no insurance its hardly fair substantiated stuff.
Read the thread carefully. We approached...
Right Jack, I'm going to be honest with you. I'd love to sit here all day and debate the ins & outs of brake bias with you, however this thread is not the time or place for it, it is something that we have been openly tinkering with as members of the community, not as tight lipped commercial...
I feel really sorry for the fella tbh, everyone I know who has taken large finance deals to get a car the want has always ended up regretting it.
Saddest thing is that he can't see the error of his ways, says about being 'happy' and whatnot but it will make him 'unhappy' when it dawns on him...
