Take your car in to a dealer where you they have the car you want. Ask them about price and sort out a deal. At which point they will phone the finance company to get a settlement figure for your finance. If this is £5000 for example and they offer you £5500 for your car then you have £500...
I have just been looking on Autotrader to see the prices of 172s just to compare with the price I paid for my 172 a month ago. I noticed that there are mostly MKI 172s or high mileage MKII 172s around the price I paid for mine so I am starting to realise that I have got a bargain !
I paid...
I have found a mint Williams 1 with just 45000 miles on the clock for £4000, I am so tempted but working out how much it would cost me to run along with a 172, it would be VERY expensive.
So tempted tho ! But then I have to think of twice as much tax, insurance, maintenance, petrol, etc. I...
A standard valver will kill a VTR anyway unless it is supercharged of course ! A VTR is only just under 10 secs 0-60 whereas a Clio 16v is around 7.7 secs 0-60 as standard ?
....to me ?
The main thing I wanted to know was how you adjust the ride height and how easy it is to do ?
Is the handling MUCH better with COs than say a Cup suspension ? Is the ride height harsh or not ?
Cheers for the dummies guide to coilovers !
Dai
The same as andydean. I bought a set of Eibach Pros from Demon Tweeks last week for £99 inc VAT. ChavyBoy fitted them for me on the weekend and as said above, the drop is not that noticeable but the handling is so much better now and I imagine it would be even better without the ContiSports on...
Cheers Roamer, I am still trying to figure out the best way to do this is. I would love a Williams as a 2nd car and having the missus driving it would be ideal but then she does have a habit of hitting things every now and again ! So I am swaying away from that idea more and more !
Can you...
I found this item, http://www.bbperformancetuning.co.uk/products/product.asp?deptid=96&id=227http://www.bbperformancetuning.co.uk/products/product.asp?deptid=96&id=227. But that is a soft pedal conversion for an uprated clutch, not sure if it works with the standard clutch.
Give them a ring...
I am sure I heard you can get them from BB Tuning, try them at http://www.bbperformancetuning.co.ukhttp://www.bbperformancetuning.co.uk.
When I test drove a 16v before buying the 172 I hated the clutch so I would have to get one of these. You need huge calves to change gear ! LOL !

Would the description put you off ? I dont know anything more about the car yet but it looks in good condition apart from the slight damage and it is driveable ?
Worth a look ?
Edde, thanks for clearing that up man, thought it was a little too easy then.
I know the Williams is a group 17 on paper but if some companies are classing it as a a group 18 then it may be a little bit too much. Been getting quotes for myself which are very similar to what I have been...
Sooty, that is a very good suggestion, why didnt I think of that !?!?!?! I am pretty sure my current insurance policy does NOT allow me to drive other cars TPF&T, I will have to check but I am 95% sure about this. I could always phone to ask how much it would cost as that seems a very viable...
A bunch of daffs could do it ! Tom, leeks arent flowers last time I looked !
Chavy, it is HER car, not mine ! I have driven it, beats my 172 all ends up as you would expect !
;)
I remember Jas has 2 Clios, that is ideal if the missus drives the track day car !
A 172 and a Williams, groups 16 and 17 resp. IIRC ? Wont be much in it really but then we do build up 2 NCBs like you said. She drives a 106 XND at the moment so there will be a little difference !
:o
I need to go and buy her some flowers I think !
;)
That is what I am trying to do mate, the only problem there is that she has 0 NCB at the moment so insuring a Williams maybe be expensive me thinks !
She has even offered to buy one if she gets a new job and then she can drive it, and then if she changes it then I will buy it off her, whatta...
I was just interested to know if you personally owned more than 1 Clio ? If you do, how do you cope with insurance ? Do you insure it on a low mileage policy ?
I would like to own a 172 and Williams one day but I was wondering how feasible it is ? I could afford the cost of the car but was...
Glad you got it sorted mate.
Strange that Eibach said that the 01-22 were the right ones as their website clearly states that the 02-22 are designed for the 2.0 and 01-22 are designed for the lighter engined cars.
Like Mike said, I am sure they will both be fine but I wanted to make sure I...
