i want to amp 1 sub and a set of speakers so what do i need?

so i want 2 buy an amp but wen i look on the net i see 2 channel 4 channel mono channel amps! what does it all mean! i just want an amp what do i buy! lol

any1 have any idea what it would be because i dnt want 2 but cheap new speakers 2 realise they r only about 5rms higher lol

i have a mk1 and want 2 upgrade the speakers but dnt have a cluw at 1's 2 get! i seen these 1's in halfords earlier and they seemed pretty good and had good sound 2 them...
