Cool Japanese wheels, pt1. Old School wheels.
Cool Japanese wheels, pt2. Modern Lightweight wheels.
Cool Japanese wheels, pt3. High End/VIP wheels.
I only need a set of old school wheels to have one set from each list!
TBH, I think the only real argument was wheel vs fly figures, then some random s**t ensued about JDM RWD hatred or something? f**k knows, s**t get's crazy on here. Anyway, that was that thread, and this is this thread.
They're all braced post flexi, or have no flexi at all. It seems to work anyway, as pointless as it sounds. A post flexi mount would work too though. The manifold brace is built in aye.
A standard setup has a mount from the turbo elbow to near the sump, and a mount from the very back of the downpipe to the gearbox. Key is to ensure the exhaust system is moving in relation to the engine, hence mounting to the block and box.
On my system, the only supports I have are from the...
If I were you, I'd have tried to get a small flexi in the downpipe (vertically), and then made a bracket linking the downpipe to the gearbox. Will reduce the chances of cracking the exhaust manifold and blowing turbo gaskets regularly.
Mind you a 3076 in that AR would be even laggier I suppose, so they're working to reduce spool.
Very tempted by something in that range, just got to figure out which I want really.
Never mind. It's just funny that we don't fall into line with the rest of the tuning world and quote wheels only to me, but whatever.
Care to answer my original question I first asked you Paul, about how you are finding the GTX series of turbos? As I thought they were meant to be more...
Yeah sure, but then same car, same dyno, different day = different figure. We could go on forever with the variables.
At the end of the day, I'd still rather see the UK quote wheel figures rather than fly figures, but this seems to come with a lot of scepticism because it's a lesser figure.
I never said it was a fair comparison from dyno to dyno, just it's an actual figure that's being read, not one that's been made up from another figure by running it through an equation.
In short, it means more in the real world.
But a fly figure only means something if it's actually been taken from the flywheel on an engine dyno. Any fly figure calculated from the wheels is just that, a calculation. I know Dynodnamics are one of the conservative dynos for calculating flywheel figures, but it's still not an actual...
Video of DK passing you on full boost?
In all seriousness though, that's an impressive output with a ridiculous old school kick in the back when it has spooled up. How are you finding the GTX series of Garretts Paul? I thought these were meant to be pretty quick spool wise.
