I'm praying it passes my MOT with a de-cat as my 172 Mk1 is such a pain in the ass to take off and put back on. I'll belt it around for an hour before I take the car in for it's MOT.
Plastic weld it back up and sand it down. Probably save you a few quid trying to do it yourself. If it fails then you could look at getting the ones you are on about. Nothing to loose. You want to change them anyway.
Not rubbing a panel down after a spray is where it goes wrong. Rubbing the area down (wet sanding) provides a "key" or minute scratch so the paint will actually take to the panel. You will most likely get orange peeling and a poor finish.
As r-jay said... it's all in the preperation. Spend...
Is true. I raced this 7 series v12 bmw off the lights the other day in Wolverhampton around the ring road. Thing was probably automatic and he was struggling to shake me off. His car was so much more powerful though he would have made mince meat out of me on a straight.
I used some Farecla G3 compound to remove a fairly deep scratch. Got most of it out so you could barely notice it.
Did it by hand and worked up some massive mucles in my left wrist. Right wrist was fine for some weird reason...:quiet:
If you want a 182 exhaust on a 172 you would need to cut out the spare wheel tire well, plate it and weld it back up. Put the spare in the boot, on the roof :o or not in the car at all.
