I had something similar on my old 1.2. Was a wheel bearing as mentioned. Ended up replacing 2 of the b******s on mine, assuming they aren't as well made as the 1*2 ones.
In all honesty that looks like a sh*t bodged system. Replace it with a Pure Motorsport/Ktec/Other known brand system, you know what you're getting that way.
All sorted! Cheers for the help guys.
New connector on, and crimped tightly thanks to @JamesBryan's strangler grip on the pliers. Heatshrink around it too.
Cheers guys. Going to go and get a connector and give it a go.
Does the old wire need stripping before the new one is crimped on?
It only ran for around 20 miles to get home. Alternator is only a month old too so hopefully should be okay.
I had a misfire very similar to yours on my old 1.2. Coil pack was the issue.
You can test if it's a faulty injector by unclipping the injector connections while the engine's idling and if there's no change in engine note then you know that's the faulty one.
Driving back from Manchester tonight and suddenly the radio goes off, followed by speedo, followed by speedo lights, then headlights (in the dark lol). Dashboard was like a Christmas tree. Managed to limp it back to home.
I was annoyed because it was the exact same problem and symptoms I had...
Car looks awesome! Might want to get yourself one of the larger throttle pedals too, really cheap and help with heel & toe especially on track. Got one on mine and it just makes it easier to get those blips quickly.
Mondial 172 Cup with Corbeau buckets etc, RB 182 (clearly with pop and bangs map, thing sounded like Beirut), Titanium 182, Inferno 182 rep, Mk3 non-sport with Recaros and Turinis.
Genuine Renault alternator fitted yesterday, running like a dream. Feels noticeably perkier, old one must have been limiting power to some degree it seems. Seems plausible given how much slower it went when it was really low on charge just before I broke down originally.
Plastic grille guard...
Yeah as James says, £300 in the end.
£190 for the Alternator (110A AC Version) from Renault Wolverhampton, £65 for the Aux belt kit, £70 ish labour at the Renault specialist I'm using. Then £24 back from the seller when you return your old unit.
Obviously depends where you go for labour too.
It's a Valeo alternator. Battery is fine just very low on charge now because of the alternator hence the breakdown so I'll get that charged. The AA guy checked the alternator and it was putting out 3A, so definitely the issue.
So, my alternator is knackered. Car broke down on NYE with a flat battery, and the AA man quickly diagnosed the alternator which I'd known might have been a problem for a little while because of the STOP and battery light that had been flickering. The AA man got it working again by giving it a...
