Nick, the ecu is a superb device.. If you have done something silly, like fit an ecotek, then it is advisable to reset the ecu when you see the light and remove said ecotek
It will make no difference unless the base info / adaption tables have been changed by engine mods or alleged mods...
Ok, heres a pointer or two for the guys that think it works... and sorry, but I mean think, not know.
Brun posted 2 small emission graphs apparantly showing a DECREASE in emissions.. the lower graph is at idle.. yet, Brun himself was told by ecotek that the unit does not operate at idle...
absolutely no probs..
just make sure you use a progressive controller for higher power - say 40 bhp and above.. use a boost ign r****d.. and only activate on WOT (Wide open throttle)
the ecu disable lama input at WOT.. all the fueling needs to done on the Nos / Fuel injectors or fogger...
Sooooo, I didnt mention the 737 cockpit project, or, the buying and selling of aircraft parts ?? lol.. (The CVR (Black Box) is out of a 747, it was used on the credits for channel 4 black box series a few years back. ..
And, I would LOVE to do scrap heap challenge.. if there is another...
well, its a RENIX (Renault / Siemens Nixdorf) Sirrius 32 or 34 unit.
what do you want to know ??. and what do you mean by a fuel / timer - have ya got forced induction ??
Joe.
Hi Eddd,
re higher octane in a lower octane engine..
if no ignition compensation is made.. it CAN reduce power slightly.
the slower burn of the higher octane fuel causes peak pressures to occur later - after TDC - top dead center - so some of the power is wasted as the pressure in the...
yep, go and get an old grenada, escort, cortina etc...
A great engine choice if you dont use ford is the rover k series..1.8.. all alloy, light, strong as F&$K and tunable.
Joe..
Ok, heres a tip from me..
this is ewhat we used to do to the rally cars and it usually worked fine !>
At first sign of synchro problems..
Drain the gearbox oil completely.
Fill with ATF - auto transmission fluid.
drive it for 2-3 weeks.. then drain and refil with recommended...
Simple m8.. get yerslef to any halford.. and look in the book section for a book entitled how to build and race a sports car for £250
Seriously.. !!.. thats the Locost concept.. its all explained, full plans, parts, links, pics, - everything you need..
complete chassis can be had for...
It gets better though m8..
the ecotek guru on the forum is now saying its the turbulence that does it..
shhhhhhhhhhhesh..
me thinks they need to study basic 4 stroke design and airflow characteristics..
there only sales pitch is that, apparantly they have ripped off (sorry - sold...
Wozza, nice choice dood. !
yep, I had the stell delivered a few weeks back for the winter project locost.
It will be running a modifyed 172 turbo unit and getrag gearbox / Sierra IRS.
Joe..
Hi TB. (Tony)
excellent input on octane, however, let me add a wee bit.
higher octane is SLOWER burning.. more controlled... it will do nothing without ignition adjustment. Modern ecus can compensate via adaptive knock sensing / variable storage. so as to take advantage. (The longer burn...

So, its all down to turbulence eh ?? LMAO !!
Sorry Brun, but no, I will not buy one, I would not even fit one if it was free.
Fuel is injected at the back of the valves (idealy) in the cylinder head - or extrmely close to it.. ecoteks magic venturi effect on a small portion of air...
