My dealings with Danlp6 (lengthy post)

Actually he was last active in Feb so its not like he's been away long. I think he's realised how much he has pissed people off on here and is in hiding.

    Changing lower arm/wishbone

Going to do this myself. I suspect a lower balljoint having gone so im gonna change it. Can anyone provide me with a walkthru guide or is it a fairly straightforwad job? Also is it common sense to do the front pair instead of just one side?

    whats the difference

Oh was it? Shows how technically clued up i am when it comes to my own car.....:o

    whats the difference

Oh and FF refers to Full Fat...the nickname given to the Mk2 172...meaning its fully loaded with all the bells and whistles.

    whats the difference

172 Cup is different in these ways. No A/C No ABS Cloth Interior Thinner glass No Xenons/headlamp washers No middle rear seat/seatbelt Reduced sound insulation No engine cover Lightweight speedline Turini wheels. Also provide a wider track Only Clio available in Mondial Blue

    Knocking/Juddering under hard cornering

Have had this noise for ages but today it really was obvious. Was doing a "test" type cone slalom at a big Mini meet at Dunsfold Aerodrome, lots of sharp, tight cornering with lots of lock on and the knocking is basically coming from the unloaded front wheel whether turning right or left, but...

My dealings with Danlp6 (lengthy post)

If the guy had a spine, or even maybe even just a vertebra or two, he'd man up and deal with this situation. By the sounds of it, he spends most of his time hiding behind his girlfriends skirt....

    360 spin = brown trousers

In your case, yes they should go on the back....;) I don't subscribe to that view though. Have always put newer tyres on the front. I want my driven wheels to have the fresher rubber, not the rear. If it gets loose at the back due to the tyres, its down to having superior rubber on the front...

    Should I swap my cup?

Hmmmm. Strange one this. I think you need to have a drive of a couple of other Clio's for reference!

    Should I swap my cup?

The girlfriend! Her cousin is into his Mini's (or should i say the small BMW's;)) bigtime, and he has organised a 250 car Mini Meet at Dunsfold Aerodrome with some laps of the track. He managed to blag me in as well. :D So im gonna be ONE Clio in amongst 240 odd other Mini's....be nice to show...

    Servicing clio 182

Right it should be changed every 12k or yearly, whatever comes first so the next service should come 1 year since you last changed the oil. Regardless of miles, it needs servicing 1 yearly. As its 4 years old now you need to do a coolant change and prob a brake fluid change. Cambelt will be...

    Should I swap my cup?

When you say slow do you mean it struggles to accelerate? Sometimes when you increase the bore of an exhaust by too much you lose back pressure (the strength of the exhaust vacuum pulse) so the engine has to labour. Has it always felt sluggish or just recently?

    Should I swap my cup?

I would have if i wasn't having a rag round the Top Gear track tomo! Im interested to see if yours is down on power. Have you done any breathing mods? Uprated air filter element etc?

    182 Cup Vs Trophy

You also have to remember that the 172 Cup runs on 195/45/16's whereas the Trophy is on the 205/45/16's.....wider tyres.

    Should I swap my cup?

Well whats your main reason for wanting to "upgrade" then? Honestly, i'd keep your Cup.
  22. Ollie82.

    Should I swap my cup?

Keep the Cup. Why would you want to downgrade?! IF you are gonna swap it for anything, at least make it a Trophy!

    Loss of interest

Well hows this for a comparison. I drive to work, drive around in Elises and Exiges, get in it to go home and still don't find it slow! I do have days where i don't love it as much....usually when its dirty or rattling more than usual, but then i know its time to go out for a proper DRIVE not a...

    Slow clio, fast CTR.

Haha! Another one of these threads?! Ahhhh....gotta love this place. The fact things like this will never change is a comforting feeling! For what its worth, which isn't much, i do very much dislike CTR's for some reason....i think i've had it since birth, but as Kully says, there are very fine...

How best to increase 182 performance??

James, i hope this thread has provided you with some options. If i were in your shoes i'd call around the mentioned companies and get a feel for what you want to do. I haven't dealt with any of them personally. There are endless stories, supporters of each and haters of each. For me, if i was...
