I've never messed with the bios, it's a cheap 'custom' type PC. I have no idea what internals it's got, anywhere that it's detailed that I can find?
EDIT: I do know that it's a Celeron 2.8GHz CPU, but that's about it...
Oh, and the motherboard is an ASRock 755 V88+... about as old as babbage...
Don't know what's going on with it!
It keeps randomly shutting down, so I've opened it up and given everything a dust off, checked connections, etc.
Having left the case open so I can see what's going on, there's a horrible scratchy noise coming form the motherboard, which seems to get worse...
Well I've decided to go from 195's to 205's, Eagle F1's, and if nothing else so far, the ride is that little bit more comfortable.
I asked for 195's but they didn't have any at all in stock and, with MOT on Tuesday and 4 very low tyres, I needed something today!
Nankang's on the rear though...
Can't see a sticker, probably just left it in the packagin which I've now lost...
If I go into Control Panel > System, there's a number there under 'registered to': XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX
Could that be it?
I'm planning on formatting my HDD and reinstalling Windows, but I can't for the life of me find my copy of XP / recovery CD.
Is there anyway you can get a new one without shelling out for a new copy? Surely Microsoft can do a check to see mine's genuine and then re-issue?
They may not be high end, but they're plenty good enough for a budget system IMO.
Denon's great, but that amp's 2nd hand and 4 years old. With electrical equipment that's always going to be risky.
I'd rather a lower quality system brand new with a guarantee than better stuff that's older with...
Yeah, if it looks exactly the same as the one you've linked to. I've always intended to replace it with something more sophisticated and better build quality, but it's never put a foot wrong to make me get rid!
Have got some Gale 3020's, or 2030's, or something, to go with it and the...
Welcome mate, good choice.
The 172's aren't the greatest high-mile commuter cars, but they're pretty good for average miles and will often return over 30mpg.
Have fun. :)
I was with Giganews for a brief while but had major issues with my d/l speed, due to Plusnet slowing it right down AFAIK.
I'm in the process of moving to Sky - anyone know if I'll be able to maintain a decent d/l speed with Sky Broadband?
I know that these engines are notoriously lumpy when cold but I never experienced what I get in my Cup when I had my Ph1...
When it's cold, it's very tappetty - it sounds like an old Mk2 Fiesta! It's an '03 Cup with 70k, so slightly high miles but I wouldn't expect the engine to sound like it...
I'm just in the process of moving to Sky as part of an all-in-one package... any nasty's that I can expect!?!
This router issue doesn't seem a problem as long as Sky remain my ISP. If I already have my own router, can I continue to use it with Sky BB, or do I have to use Sky's router?
Not at the moment, although they always have been previously.
I've got a nice wooden floor so don't really want the spikes to mark it; is there an alternative to the spikes for wooden floors?
Lol, well, 8m each... I've got my set-up in a way so that all the 'boxes' are hidden in an AV cabinet in the back of my lounge, with the speakers either side of my TV on the other side.
I'm going to break from tradition and have my Sky+ and PS3 on a shelf below the TV though, as I'm getting...
^ Interconnects are the cables that connect the different separates together (Amp - CD Player, etc).
Cheers for the advice Leon,. As you say the system is fairly budget so I'm not going to spend more than the cost of the whole system on speaker cable! The Chord Carnival looks good, but I would...
Cheers riz, I can totally echo the importance of interconnects in a system: mine aren't exactly top of the range (positively cheap compared to the Nordost range!) but the difference in them compared to what I had when I first put the system together is incredible.
Yeah, I noticed a Richer...
Cambridge Audio amp to Gale floorstanders - I can't recall model numbers off the top of my head. Have then got Cambridge CD player and DAB tuner and will be looking to also feed my TV (Tosh WLT3266) into the amp at some point...
I need to buy some new speaker cable as my current lot isn't long enough to allow me to move my speakers to where I'm going to...
I have a fixed budget and was just wondering whether people recommend either:
Buying 4 lengths of a certain quality cable so that I can bi-wire the speaker...
If you know anyone that already has Sky, they can refer you which gives you a free Sky+ box of HD box for £75... I'm not sure if this is what you mean by 'half price' in your original post.
There's 2 silver 182's in Ashfords, I walk past them most days on my way to work (EDF) - at least one is a lady driver that I would imagine isn't part of the ClioSport clique...
I've found durability excellent with the AJT, but have found application and removal a bit tricky on dark cars - I spray a small amount onto a MF cloth to apply and work in slightly and then use a clean MF to remove, but I always seem to be left with slight marks which I then need to buff pretty...
My Cup feels quicker than my old Ph1, a lot more planted and purposeful and torque steer is much more evident.
The ph1 felt rawer in the lower revs, but I think that is probably more to do with the engine being looser compared to my Cup.
