Friend of mine took my plastic bits down with a scotch pad in a matter of seconds with 3/4 coats of primer on and paint underneith. Not sure on metal though, be worth sanding back down to smooth and spraying over if they're rough. But I too have made the same mistake as too much too quick...

I text him the other night but got no reply :/ Never mind lol.

I used a flat head screwdriver, pushed each clip out and then got the screwdriver under the last bit to clip it off, worked a treat and didn't damage any clips etc at all. Clips along all the bottom edge connecting to the bumper.
