Er, its a fantastic motor! Depends what you want, imo the MK3 does the day to day bits LOADS better than a MK2. MK2 might be more responsive on track, but is more compromised day to day
Cheap coilovers will ruin it. Proceed with caution.
Anyway, out of interest what makes a phase 2 heavier than a phase 1? I can think wheels (bigger heaver), windscreen, um????
Or, a set of Eibach Prolines. Pretty much o.e height, slight tighten up of the handling, but wont dry rape your wallet! They retail at around £150 for the set of 4, your looking for £200 ish just for two Renault springs!
I run the B14 Coilover kit on my 172 Cup. Not decked, about 10-15mm lower than standard, its a right B road weapon tbh!
172's are better in the fact you can get 'better' aftermarket suspension. Billstein/KW/Koni dont cater for Cup/Cup-packed 182's. This was a reason i steered away from a 182...
Could that not be blown in? My gfs ZS (remember that? ;)) had a scrape at the bottom of he bumper and they blew it in. Only when i gave the car a thorough going over with a PC a month or two later could i see where it was blended in, and that was only due to how marred the original finish was
Exactly. I suggest you go to Renault with the handbook, which iirc says to jack car up before inflating, then ask them what to do if you have no jack ;)
I'd put money on a well driven standard Cup/182/whatever, will be as good if not better on track than 90% of CS 'stripped track cars' tbh. Only real thing that would need doing is uprated pads imo.
Get a decent set of Coilovers, like H&R/KW and the ride is pretty much O.E.
My 197 was bob on, when we fitted them to kevs 200, it felt no different to the Cupped set up according to him!
I want one VERY badly, but cant, bad times :(
Just like my old one sob sob. Love it mate :)
BTW, if its not a GW 200 with black Speedlines, CS wont like it, 42 views, i'm the first to reply. Shame on the CS sheep tbh! :(
Indeed, i wouldn't.
If you 'drive' your car and not pimp about town, don't bother. I ran mine on H&R coilovers for about 18months before trying some spacers, so knew everything about how it felt/reacted (awesome) Fitted some spacers, and it ruined the car. Felt so nervous on the brakes, seemed...
