cat c are slightly damaged repaired cars , as long as it been repaired correctly , i cant see the harm in buying one .
you'd save lots and who would know unless you told everyone , though some ppl can be sceptic about buying catergorised cars
there is nothing wrong with your process , the only improvement would be the type of materials you use .....
thus the argument begins on which stuff is best , but you pay for what you get
doing specific mods will obtain some power , better exhaust , decat ,induction kit , inlet matching , remap , but nothing is cheap nowadays and you will have to spend some for good gains
