You need a filter for every socket with uses any device, so telephone/fax/sky box/hamster whatever it is you plug in to a socket it needs to be filtered. All it does is stop devices interefering with data/voice channels. For £5 filter its worth doing.

Personally i'd chop your RS-1 in for a 182, keep it for 18 months and then trade that for the RS-3. That way at least some of the depreciation will have already occured on the RS-3 meaning you save cash, and your buying a car thats been run in and loosened up. New car = mugs game.
