02 plate 172, on the A3 up near the Ripley slip, possibly may have been a CC Cup but didn't see enough due to traffic as you were quite a way from me before i pulled off.
Pulled behind a Trophy, reg LV55 *** off of the Mayford roundabout yesterday afternoon at about 5.20.
Both gave it beans up until you peeled off towards Sutton Green, flashed the lights and you gave a wave before hurling it off down the lane! Great sight!:approve:
Just a thought, but in reference to this whole "Cups are dangerous cos of the lack of ABS" debate, well if people are throwing their Cups off the road into the scenery in the winter then surely thats down to a sudden loss of LATERAL tyre grip, when say going into a corner too hot, a situation...
Cup, yesterday, heading towards Woking on the main Woking to Guildford road just after the Mayford roundabout, outside the garden centre
Didn't catch a plate. Prob no one off here but as Cup's are as rare as rocking horse poo, thought i'd post incase
Im toying with the idea of having a set of "winter" tyres, i.e fatter profile,50 or 55 maybe, deeper tread etc but not a set of "winter" wheels.
Then again i may just say feck it and skate my way, tentatively thru October to March!
Alright you cheeky mofo....I've tagged onto that groupbuy thing now so I'll at least have one thing done before the next time i see you, unless we are meeting up again next week as i may not have them by then...
Right now i've just gotta find the money for the new exhaust and and springs...
Well having seen your 172 back on the Wales meet, i have to say it's one of the best kept examples i've seen.
Just hope we don't hear of it having been thrown into the scenery now that its moving on to someone who may not give it as much care and attention as you did!
Good luck with the 225...
Im kinda proud of the exclusivity of the Cup...i rarely see another, and the way it handles is IMO alot sharper than a standard Mk 2 172 that i test drove back to back with mine.
Yeah some of the comforts would be nice (plus a few less rattles) but it reminds me that im prob closer to...
The trouble with the new car (which i haven't yet driven....why test drive a demo with under 1000 miles on it?) to begin with, is that the Trophy just set the bar way too high.
To go out with a bang is pretty much an understatement.
And then they went and fell into the trap that everyone other...
Well put it this way....i got my Cup which is literally the same reg date as that one (52 plate, registered in December) and it had 8100 miles on it for £8200!
Barrrrgin i thought.
Then again I did find out thru Renault recently that my car now with 23000 on it will still fetch £7800!!
Apparently the dealers aren't allowed to give ANY discount whatsoever on the 197....at least for the first few months....any salesman found doing so will be personally fired by the head of Renault UK...or so i hear.
Obviously this doesn't apply to pre-reged demo's that are up for sale...
Hey I made a picture! First one next to Gareth, the other dedicated Surrey lad!
A cracking first time on the Welsh roads for me....count me in for the next one for sure!
Sorry i didn't speak to many others...Ad especially.
Saw you on the M42 yesterday evening around about 8pm going south. I pulled up beside you in the fast lane and gave a knowing nod...you had a Cliosport sticker in your rear window as well.
Also had a racing blue 182, W* ONY, with what looked like Recaro's, follow me down the M6/M5 around...
Wow! 54mpg?
Challenge is on then....who can get the furthest over 400 miles with one tank and who can get past 54mpg!
Then again...how boring will it be driving that slow??
I think im gonna have a go at gettin my LOWEST mpg now as i reckon i've done my best HIGHEST...it would have been over 420 miles if i ran it nearly dry.
And i feel im doing my Cup an injustice being so well behaved....at least the Wales NW run will give me a chance to redeem myself!
Bring it on..
Well i've just refilled the car having got what i thought was a very good amount of miles from one fill up...396 to be precise!
The MPG never dropped below 41mpg and it peaked at 46mpg!
I didn't drive like a granny for 9 days either...it included a run down to Brighton and back and that...
What a numpty of a builder...hope its all sorted out soon buddy!
Your lady must have spitting flames....god knows i would have been if that was the Cup it had happened to.
Well if it was around the 11.30 mark then i was going thru there so you never know it may have been the rare occurence of there being TWO Cups within 2 square miles of each other!
