Go with the Cup - the way cars should be. None of this computer intervention that just adds weight and takes away the skill and fun of driving. Aircon and xenons are not required, although I live in Scotland so when we see the sun, we go indoors!
Point to point, GT TDI PD FBI....whatever, will get destroyed by Clio. If you are trying to beat a car from one point to another, you will be in the optimum gear for the duration. Bye bye GT TDI! Who cares about starting at 2000rpm and flooring it. Thats like comparing a 1.6 Focus against a EVO...
Corsa looks a bit like Clio 197. I think they have been doing their homework. Still, looks too much like a Vauxhall for me - they have just gone too far and there will not be any performace edge over Clio. Okay, a bit of torque.
They need to shoot the dude in Renault who thinks adding cheesy F1 branding stickers to a car is a good idea. Besides looking bad, the stickers just slow you down. Can only be a bad thing!!
Depends what gains you want and at what price. Some people will be put off when you come to sell but some will be looking for some mods.
You will not regain your money on selling, should you make mods. (Unless you go mental with the......$$$$$$$!)
BTW, Standard Clio Cup. Same size alloys as you, not lowered. Did have some sh!t in the boot that may have weighed it down a bit.
Did you ever play for Reign?
Keep the Cup! Or the other end of the spectrum that will fit in garage and spank any car you like.......GSX 1000R! (if you like bikes and don't mind a few risks)
MG dude. ZS......now that's amusing!
Buy the Cup! I too am from sunny Scotland and have had no problems so far with cold weather and ABS (lack of). Take it easy in cold or wet weather and you should have no problems.
I wouldn't touch those Fords with a 10 foot pole!
Why bother? The insurance will be about as much as the car. Anyone willing to pay £4K or more for insurance on any Clio needs to have word with themself!
Having driven the Type-R for around 4 months and then driving the Clio Cup, I thought there was a noticable difference in low end grunt. Neither cars pull that hard below 3500rpm but I was quite impressed by the Clio. Even better now with remapped ECU. It just seemed that the Civic took and age...
Both are great cars, CTR is a nice motor but completely one dimensional compared with Clio. Numb stearing and I hate having no grunt down at low revs. Performance is almost identical, CTR has bigger top end but would be beaten on a track by Clio.
That said, the CTR is the better car to own, if...
