Right ok so its lower than I imagined. Its possible that you may see slightly better speeds (more around the 7Mbps mark) but its hard to say until you switch. The noise margin is quite high aswell.

Yep :). But I would make sure with BT first that the job has been closed as engineers sometimes wait to the end of the day to close down their jobs.

The 2 main things that determine what speed you can achieve is line attenuation which is how much loss of signal you have on the line and SNR (signal - noise ratio) this is how much signal you are receiving as opposed to noise on the line.

If you know for a fact that the max you can get on your line is around 6-7Mbps then you wont get any higher than that regardless if you go onto ADSL 2+. 1.5 Miles is quite far but its the actual line attenuation that matters. If you log into your current modem/router you should be able to find...

I am sorry but you totally confuse me lol. If you haven't broadband then you have a BT line full stop. You must have ADSL as you have been given the MAC code. What does the MAC start with?

Vista has been around a year now iirc. Tbh I havnt come across any programms for ages that dont work with Vista.

I am with Be Unlimited and I have it configured so I am getting the best out of the line (Fastpath and a lower S/N margin). Also I have the router direct into the master socket with no extensions and a ADSL face plate. :)
