That rear strut wont do anything, same as the MK2. All the load is on the rear chassis legs where the springs sit, ie there is no twisting/load on the damper turrets. Nice idea though.

On a normal 172 yes :)

If it has no cup packs, your shock to hub mounting points (x2 bolts) should measure 54mm to the bolt centres. If its 60mm, you can't get any aftermarket that i know of

Wire brush/course sandpaper if its say an earth strap to the chassis. Remove the lug first, clean up both contact areas, and refit
