Thanks Ken, just what I was after, I quite like yellow actually. How easy is it to fit, as simple as bolt on and play or do I have to make a hole somewhere?
I'm not overly fussed about the sound, more about the improved air flow, are the BMC ones still good in this area?
Cotball, I cant view...
Picked up my 182 last night, probably going to be spending a fair amount on it over the next 6 month.
First thing is to get a towing hook or hoop or whatever they are called for the front? Taking it to Bedford on the 12th March if anyone else wants to join.
Planning on sourcing a decent...
Mike, I wasn't able to listen to your clip, the firewall in my office prevents it.
Picking the car up tonight hopefully if the weather holds up. It felt solid and good to drive, if there are any problems down the line then I'll just deal with it and get it sorted.
Thanks for your help everyone.
excellent reply thanks squirrel!!
Definitely not the dephaser then!!
could be the PAS pump i guess, but its no where near as loud as that.
Great final video :)
Cheers, Martin
Done a lot of research into the whole thing, been to some garages.
Decided I'm going to go with it, the car felt good to drive and felt rock solid. I might get my mechanic to have a quick look over the engine to see if he might know what the noise is but if not ill leave it..
So HPI check...
I did consider an RAC or AA check originally, but the car seems fine apart from this slight noise, and I thought for the cost of the inspection which might not tell me anything anyway, I might as well put it towards the cost of a new part and fitting
Right ok, Just spoke to Renault AGAIN. I told them the car does apparently have a dephaser according to my mechanic and on-line forums and websites. The guy went off and spoke to technicians, they said this particular car does NOT have one. and not all of them do. This car has another type...
I can live with really bad luck lol.. How much does and new one cost to refit etc??
If it goes will it take the belts out with it though? 'Accessory belt and pulleys' and 'timing belt and pulleys' as they are written in the service book. I know these were definitely both done only 5k miles...
iirc? Arghh why can't anything be simple, I was assuming that with Renault doing it all then they would have done it fully and properly!!! Don't know what to do now... If it was done 2 years ago with only 5k miles since do I have a leg to stand on asking them to fix it?
Chaps.
Been on a hunt for a nice 182 this week. The last one didn't work out to well but I went to see another last night.
Had a very long test drive which was really good.
But one thing I did notice however was a slight noise from the engine. I'll try my best to describe it but I'm...
Am I allowed to post links on here??
If not then MODS please remove, but basically to warn all others, and to share my MANY MANY hours of research and findings, this is the car with a completely fake stamped history!
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3576343.htm
The sale is officially off now. As you say Darren I didn't completely rule it out, It seemed a nice car so I was willing to do my best to stick with it. However after a very extensive history check I found out that basically all it's stamps were fake. The first 4 from a company which I found...
It wasn't actually no, I always avoid the obvious cheap ones for that reason.
On first visit after my test drive I would have been happy to hand over the cash there and then. The guy seemed very very genuine.
It was only upon actually checking the History in more detail that the...
Just an update... It's not looking good!!
The company which has stamped the service schedule called R.J.A Services just doesn't exist any where. There are some similar names but nothing exact. I found an R.J.Autos Services or something in Bromley North, and assumed this was it. But on a...
Thanks rockers, hopefully a check with the indy will clear things up about all the belts and stamps.
Worst case scenario, what happens if the belts snap when driving? Is that engine completely ruined?
Looking forward to owning one and getting it out on a few track days :)
Thanks for all the help guys I appreciate it!!
There are a few things which need clearing up before we finalize the deal.
I want to try and reset this diagnostic check thingy tonight and then run it again to see if it re-appears. But I did notice in the Service Schedule that of the 4 services...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I saw the car again tonight and all went well. I did what everyone advised.
One thing I wasn’t sure about though was the on board diagnostics that Darren S suggested.
I got the four dashes '----' but there was some kind of lettering or symbol in front like...
Ok thanks I will try that too tonight :)
I just tried PM'ing you with a link. But for some reason it didn't work, a message pops up asking me to become a club member.
I'm going to check over all the paperwork tonight.. He did mention that it had a stamp in the book for the cambelt but that he didnt think he had a reciept. I'm assuming as long as it's been stamped at a dealer then all will be ok.
I felt the kick in the back on the test drive, was actually...
Thanks for a reply..
Didn't check the exhaust myself so might have a quick look tonight (even know I wouldn't know what to look for). But Id had an MOT 4 months back and passed with no advisory.
Cam belt was done in the last year so wont be another 4 years until it needs doing again :)...
Hi all,
Picking up my 04 reg Clio sport 182 later tonight. It's a well looked after car and seems to all be in top condition, I'm looking forward to owning one.
But I was after some quick advice, is there anything in particular I should double check tonight before money and car are...
