Open the passenger door. Look at the end of the dashboard. You'll see a cover. Pop it off and behind it is the fuse box. The UCH, which is what you saw, controls various bits but hopefully that's not the problem.

Yeah pretty much. The wires look they might just pull out (bringing the metal pin with it), but check the long sides of the connector for tabs. The aftermarket connectors may not be the same as the ones in the car. Some cars are wired with the permanent live and switched live the other way...

The first pic shows the two connectors, the same as what you've got in the car, right? On the lower of the two connectors are the red and yellow wires which may need to be swapped on the car end. You could swap them on the stereo side if it's easier, it doesn't matter. Have a look at the wires...
