Agree with yoz! dont even try it you will get in a mess, there is no woodruff key on the crank, so the pulley floats, if you havent locked it with the pin and cam locking tools you wont have a clue whats going on! trust me! i have got a set of tools, think they were £40 ish! as for the bonnet...
First step, get it jacked up, undo the exhaust somewhere in front of the cat, so beetween the manifold and the cat, whatever bit is easiest, when it is detached start the car up, it should rev freely, i would think that the catalytic converter has collapsed blocking the exhaust! that will be...
Do it roughly by counting the turns! but get it checked, be cheaper in the long run, it may start chewing tyres, and 90% of time your steering wheel will be on the piss!
when you undid the allen key the 22m didnt moove aswell did it? i would say you have undone the allen key to much, if its to loose it will never tighten up? you nly need to undo the allen key a bit!!
You undo the allen key in the middle of the tensioner, then turn the 22M one way or the other to tension or loosen the belt etc! your sure the tensioner isnt moving? and the new belt isnt too long or anything daft?
Put a single slot CD player in my MK1 16V tonight, nothing fancy just a basic kenwood, it was a simple plug in job, yet there is interference from the engine when driving, quite a bad whine!:rolleyes: anyone know if there is a easy cure for this??
