It's the internal temperature sensor for the climate control. On early 182s it was a small grill, on the rest it's the small blue nipple thing. We had massive long threads on this a while back, especially as some had it and others didn't.

The exhausts on my 172 and 182 didn't even last 12 months. The one on the Trophy is starting to sound a bit louder so I'm sure that's not got long left in it. It's hard to believe that there are still a few Williams and Valvers with the original system, when the current ones can't last 12 months.
