There's half your problem. I've had about 15-20 RS's over the years, and as long as they're looked after nicely, they get better with miles. My current shed is on 105k and goes as well as ones i've owned with half the miles on.

It's possible without on some, but as above, you risk breaking the screen. Never been a problem for me tbh as they've always been cars being broken.

Yep, adjust the bracket to be straight on and job done. Use a pair of grips to hold the bracket at the correct angle while you tighten the shock bolt or it'll move round as it tightens.
