Noise is about the only giveaway sometimes. Is the noise constant? Does it change under load? When coasting in gear, when rolling in neutral? Does it go away if you swerve left/right?
Dave's last Trophy was whining like a b**ch. I checked everything. No play in either of the rear wheels, but...
Engine doesn't have to come out.
Some say removing the subframe is quickest, and i'd agree if you've got a ramp and air tools.
On the driveway with axle stands, i take the box out of the top. Don't have to touch the subframe then.
I wouldn't be replacing the UCH- it's likely to be much simpler.
Try another switch as they're temperamental- you could have bought a duff replacement! Check wiring.
Do the indicators work?
As a reference, my Lolvo last year was doing 21mpg. We spent the whole weekend driving it about, there and back and it used £200's worth of fuel.
No probs.
Exhausts are different lengths due to cat changes.
Most aftermarket ones have a sliding joint which is adjustable at the cat end allowing for fitment to both.
