OP, I'd advise against it. There's no real benefit to having a noisy exhaust, you'll just regret it when you have to go on a long journey. For the hassle it'll give you at MOT time, it's not worth it.

As for meets, we have a meet in Exeter every month on the 2nd Friday, which is a bit far from you but hopefully at some point there'll be something further up country for you.
