Have you checked you put the right kind of washer back on when you took off the sump plug?
Mark 1s require a washer with an inner rubber washer seal on it.
Happened to me, went to renault and cost me 78p per washer.

You didnt have right of way due to it being a t-junction. So it could be a partial blame due to you not leaving enough space for the truck to move into the junction.
