My mate works for Shell Global Solutions (the people who test fuels and oils for the producers and car manufacturers... and they developed the race fuel for Ferarri).
They strip engines down, run them on different fuels, strip them down again and look at the whats changed...
Just halfords assorted wet/dry sand paper.
..and towards the end some sonus polish on some 1500grit paper (don't know if this made a difference though)
I got the machine polisher out and had a go on the bonnet, got bored and moved onto other things. Started painting the dash strips, header tank cap, and oil filler cap (in progress)
Also had a go at cleaning up the lettering on the plenum. Not polished yet, just some elbow grease and wet/dry.
