Ah ok. Will i have any issues with bubbling from the heat coming through the paint? or should the sanding, spraying make this less likely due to a more rought surface to which the next layer is added.
I know you can get High temp lacquer? so might get that. Think its for exhausts, so much hotter than the bay.
would I need to prime, sand, spray, sand, spray? If that makes sense?
Going to spray up my plenum, fuel rail, TB and engine mount/cam cover. Anyone got any words of wisdom? I was thinking of following shadowness's guide on spraying for it? Would i need to use VHT on it? Also, would lacquer be ok under there?
Want it to get easy to keep clean finish as the...
Jet wash and shampoo (wheels as well)
Tar removal
Rinse
Dry
Clay
Polish
Wax (2 coats - buff off coat 1 then give it another coat the day after.)
Windows
Could i suggest some autoglym bumper car for all the plastics too. Adds a little something ot the finish imo.
Presumably you're using G101 for...
Only just seen this thread. OMG. Car looks sweet!!! Just read everything but didn't notice what charger you're using? You're getting 400bhp from charger and major head work yes? Whats the bhp per tonne looking like?

For some reason the system was saying that the airbox was from a R25? :S
Not the top cover. Think it is in the middle or the lower one (not 100%), but it's just a steel plate.
True, but you would think that they could keep costs down. A plastic cover would still be functionally as good. A lot of other cars have them on.
Steer clear of jet washing. Could be more trouble than its worth. I use a damp (not dripping) sponge. Wipe round the dirty areas (clean sponge as you go). Then before it dries i go over it with a microfibre (use old ones as the never come clean again). Then dress everything with autoglym bumper...
Why does it have so much unnecessary weight in it?
- Cambelt cover could be plastic?
- Fuel rail guard?
- Big lump of iron under the DS engine mount.
I'm sure there are probably more things under there that could be made lighter.
I was thinking of having a plastic cambelt cover molded...
You shouldn't be getting squeel if you have done all the above? its strange. Presumbably you flushed the fluid when you changed from dot 4 to dot 5.1? Could you have siezed caliper/sliders?
put it this way. My mates ph1 was exactly the same. whinning like a b**ch. Did it out of gear also when reved. Felt fine to drive, Then BOOOOOOM. Gear box was fooooked. Thought the noise was the cambelt (hadn't been changed yet on a 2000 :o) He's just paid 550quid for a full box refurb as all...
