If it is the throttle pedal assembly, what would need replaced on it? And why would it cause the EWL to come on?

Nah car won't even respond to the throttle in any gear, just sits at 2K and doesn't do anything but that.

Car doesn't respond but will rev to 2K and stay there without me touching the pdeal, have to restart the engine and rev the car a couple of times to clear it. Previously solved this by removing the anti-theft thing from the block and covering it in tape to prevent it chomping through the loom...

No, hands down behind the light clusters, screw the black cover off, twist bulbs out and redo. People find it harder on the drivers side due to aircon pipes.
