If you're on a budget then buying secong hand off her is probably the best way. A set brand new range from £200 (mickey mouse off ebay) - £1000 (leda or similar). Lots of people on her regard Ph1 172 suspension as pretty good as standard though!

Oh, by the way. To diagnose a head gasket, the engine will mix the coolant and oil. This will make the oil coffee coloured. Check under the oil filler cap, you'll be able to see. The engine could also feel under-powered and may well make a "clicking" or "puffing" noise....

If the head gasket goes, the engine oil and coolant/water mix. The engine will still run, but will overheat. Make sure you don't run it for too long or let the engine get too hot, because the head may warp. If you take it to Renault, it'll be a fair few pennies to fix. The part itself is no...

Taking your time is also key. If you try and rush it there is far more chance of something going wrong. Also, most prople will suggest that you leave the wheels to properly dry before you put them back on the car.
